Hand hygiene is a special weapon we have against the Corona virus. In high -income countries, as we have written about this morning, many reports are emerging from teachers, which are related to teachers that schools are reopening without much hygiene management. However, in all the Sahara African countries, children can be out of school for a while if the hygiene administration has the standard of reopening for schools: only 53 % of schools have basic cleaning facilities and water.

UNESCO has just released a resource paper to prepare for the reopening of schools, saying that the important aspects of the school’s reopening are time, circumstances and actions. A new framework for opening schools developed by UNESCO, but also in the UNICEF, the World Bank and the World Food Program, has also said that countries are essential. “Ensure the conditions that reduce the transfer of diseases, protect the necessary services and supplies, and promote healthy behaviors. It involves access to soap and clean water, when safe hand washing lies Clean, staff or students, the protocol on social distances and good hygiene.” Just how much is it possible?

There are already a lot of efforts in the region to meet and meet similar advice that are related to effective hygiene management issued by HO, including, for example, reports of sterile plans for every school across the country in Nigeria. Along with the mask, hygiene kits are being distributed to all schools in Senegal before reopening in June. The UNESCO dissertation on preparation for reopening schools contains more information about the most important aspects of the school’s reopening of the school.

In the meantime, in South Africa, the Minister of Basic Education, Angi Motashika, announced that the reopening of schools from June 1 depends on that they are capable of implementing Covade -19 health and safety measures. Nato, the teachers’ union, however, is very confident that they will manage the task. Currently, only 78 % of schools in the country have basic water facilities.

The way the arrival of Covade has still highlighted the work in education in relation to technology access, as well as the work size should not be less estimated by the work size to accommodate all the learning environment. For example, Uganda’s school health policy has been a draft for the past 18 years. There are six countries in Sahara Africa, with less than one out of five schools to wash hands.

Schools often have a greater crowd of low income settings, when the reopening of schools makes it difficult to copy the rules on the size of the small class. For example, all schools in the Sahara Africa have about 40 children in many schools. If they are meant to maintain social distances, and there are only 15 children in each class, resulting in each child only two days a week to school.

The fact is that the fact is, in some countries, such as in Uganda, some schools have been used as Singh centers, something that is not helping to strengthen the idea that they will be properly sanitary when they meet again.

And we should not forget that this is a region in which one of the people who are displaced by conflicts and unrest in the world, many of whom are now living in camps, where the rules related to cleaning and social age, including camp schools, have been challenged.

All over the world, children are often not aware of the risks that adults do, which means that returning to school opens a higher risk of transmission than lockdown. Even out of public school rules and facilities provided, some hygiene factors are out of control: children can only wash their uniforms, they can share soft drinks as well as food utensils, such as cups or cups.

Although we should make a clear factor to the extent to which of the extent to which we are being damaged during this school closure crisis, providing a safe learning environment at the resume of classes is equally important for their ability to learn. It is not coincidental that a complete target in SDG4 is dedicated to this problem. This is just as good as the policy makers have to learn to remind this fact, and to highlight the tragic environment of the school. It is important that we ensure that we are school safe, and on the quality of the quality, especially when, in the current situation, their health as well as their education depends on it.
